So, how is notification suppose to work in the following scenario:

auto-refresh is disabled
background notification is on, every 15 min
carbon is running.

I'm guessing I won't get any notifications? but if i close carbon, I should get them?

end goal: I want manual refresh of the timeline, but automatic checking of my mentions. Something tells me this probably isn't possible right now, heh.

Auto-Refreshing is for Timeline when App is Open.
Background Updates are for those times when App is closed. They are two different triggers that use completely different parameters to work.

Yep, in your scenario above, you'll get Notifications if you close the app.

Yes it'll work the way you want it. To use Manual refresh simply turn auto-refresh disabled. To get notified for Mentions when App is closed enable Background updates for Mentions, that'll do the trick.

Actually, I was going for manual refresh and notifications auto polling while the app is open =)

I think i'm starting to miss not having a manual bookmark of tweets.

Ahhm...Backgroud updates are only for times that App's closed, if you want on App Notifications then you'll have to enable Auto Refreshing. I hope that clears it out for you.

If you want notifications to show only for Mentions on Auto-Refresh then turn Notifications ON for mentions and turn the rest of if you want. That'd do the trick for you...

Yeah, I have that set already (when I have auto refresh on). Figured what I wanted wasn't possible, it'd require a lot of separate things going on in parallel and doubt it's worth the effort to code (or possible).

Just figured I'd ask to make sure, heh. I'll wait to see what other goodies can make it to webOS 2+.

Hey Oliver, in order for you to have notifications work when App is running you'll have to enable auto-refresh, as timelines have to be refreshed before we can notify you for any updates right?

For Background Updates though, you can have auto-refresh OFF and still get Background Notifications when App is closed(swiped up)

    Hope that helps.

If I turn auto refresh off , is that true that I will not any notification even if run in background is on and app is opened?
